“Lovers” is a contemplative oil painting that was inspired by a classical sculpture to explore the dualities of intimacy and individuation, softness and strength, feminine and masculine. The figures serve not only as external subjects, but as internal archetypes I often find myself contending with. With sculptural restraint and emotional clarity, this piece was as much about romance as it is about the sacred, unconditional love we have for ourselves.
